Hi all As you probably know, there is a group of SOLers about to campaign a Moody 38s for this year's Fastnet race. Read here about the SOL Fastnet Campaign. SOL doesn't have a polar for a Moody 38s and Jubilant's skipper, ybw-mjm has said this on Facebook: QUOTE There is a Beneteau Ocean 390 polar that is easy to find on the web and looks similar to what we could obtain.. Perhaps that could be used for Sol for now.. or another easy to find one is a Moody 41 classic. That could be used with perhaps a 10% speed reduction overall. UNQUOTE Can anyone provide a polar for either of these OR, if not, can someone suggest which of the boats already in the SOL Boathouse will give a fair approximation of performance?

	Jubilant's IRC is .926. Closest SOL boat would appear to be J/30 at .925. until we get some more data... I think standard J/30 has a symmetric. Jubilant has a big Assy and a small Symmetric. suspect J/30 may be better hard up/down wind and Jubilant may be better a bit freer --- Last Edited by Colin Hammond at 2013-04-12 19:43:31 ---

	JuJu - thank you very much for posting that. Obviously if we get the proper polar then we will use that but, otherwise, we now are ready to race!

	yes, we just worked that out. IRC is 0.915 so a little bit slower but probably a better match than the J30 in terms of shape.

	Two options based mostly on the Oceanis 390 (I had several to choose from - this one is a very close match on handicap to Jubilant's .925 IRC) The curves under 20 kts should be the same... guesswork above: option A is with Spin while B is sailing more conservatively under main and jib only. 	Thanks 76! My gut feeling is that the B may reflect more how we will sail for the first couple of races - conservatively until we get used to the boat and each other. By the way, we have a closed Facebook group where I have posted these and pictures from Polar Explorer. If you are on FB, I could add you to that group

Round Greenland 2024

Just as Skip Novak was embarking for Kamchatsky, Amyr Klink also quietly slipped his Antarctica moorings and by now Paratii 2 has reached Reykjavik, where he invites you to join him on Leg 5 of our High Latitudes Series, a full 3650nm circumnavigation of Greenland. The course is clockwise round, so down the North Atlantic to Cape Farewell, then up the Davis Strait into Baffin Bay and on into the Arctic Ocean proper, where, hopefully and certainly virtually, Paratii 2’s special ice-breaker features will get us thorough the summer ice out onto the Greenland Sea and back to Reykjavik. Stay warm!

San Francisco to Ushuaia 2024

After a superlong RTW-leg3 (27 days), we have had a month to recover, and maintain our boat, in order to continue our around the world race. Leg 4, even longer than the previous, takes us from California to the world's southernmost city Ushuaia. No waypoints, even "the Ditch" is an option, but maybe a bit too much of a treat. With 6300 nm to go, the estimated duration of this race 29 days. This course is also the August edition of our ocean race championship.
