Hey, I sailed across the finish line and kept going....
Can't turn around now either...

and I am....
We got more reports of this and will look into the problem. We will correct the boats when needed.

Happy Sailing, and thanks for reporting.
I am a ex-admin of SOL who joins in from time to time.
Thanks.
Just so you know, as I was approaching the line I was sending repeated 1 degree course changes to pinch up to the line...

regards

Yea, that is most likely what triggered the bug. We have noticed that course changes very close to the line is a problem... for some bluddy reason... THANKS for telling!

I went over the finish line, and kept going until I hit land. My last course adjustment was ~5 hours before the finish. Never happened before.
Best regards and Happy New Year

Boats that sailed through the finish line between 03:37 and 06:14 UTC, Jan 3, 2009: Surfsmith, Tuckernuck, Poeman, Juhani, Beluga (all between 0337 to 0415),gigio (0443), araminta (0456), Chaos (0521), Spackel (0526), eRelis (0554), Trasgo (0610), AUS Eclair (0614).
Boats that were allready wrecked on the green north of the line (whose trackes went through the line) pior to 0337 UTC: 153623, Isola2, seventhwave, and Paludolino.
None of these boats that I observed where making lots of course changes. They just sailed right past the line. Looked very much like jumping SLIs.
In the chat during this time mentioned above, there were several posts saying that quite a few boats failed to stop and register as finished at the line earlier in the race.
By their ranking number all of these boats had cleared the Barren mark, yet were not stopped and given their proper ranking.
Hi. I really apologize for the finish-bug that hit some boats. We are working to solve it and may have the solution implemented already... However, it will be too time-consuming for us to manually calculate and correct the finish-time at this point. It is better that we use our time on fixing the problem we think. We hope for your understanding and apologize sincerely.

No problem.
Like wise no course changes by me.

Another oddity I just noticed now (05:15 Jan 4) is spookie recently passed over the finish line turned around crossed it from the rear and is now approximately 3.15nm aways from the line yet is showing a position of 355 whilst I'm showing 421 (should have been 1 behind captjack1942)& up2me who is 1.9nm inbound is 435...what-tha?

Halifax to Hooper Bay 2024

And now it’s Autumn in the Arctic, the sun is permanently below the horizon, but during the day, from c 0900 to c 1700 local time, there is some twilight – nautical twilight, not to be confused with civil twilight which is brighter. Having receded all summer, ice is starting to return to the numerous straits and bays of Canada’s North West Passage. High time then to set off on our last leg of the High Latitudes Series from Halifax in Nova Scotia to Alaska’s Hooper Bay. It’s 3850nm and we need to hurry, so we’ll take the Pelagic 77!
