	I would like some technical advice please. I believe that as of April 2015 Chrome has started the process of removing support for java applications. Given the reliance on java within a lot of our programmes (esp brainaid which I use a lot) should I make a the hugely disruptive move of transferring back to Firefox, or will easily accessible work-arounds continue to exist? Today for example, it was impossible to download the navigation applet from brainaid and I had to resort to Kroppyer's useful alternative link.

	Try Comondo Dragon. It's a chromium browser without a lot of the weirdness now going on in Google. Also Pale Moon, based on Mozilla code. I use both and less and less Chrome. In a pinch I'll use IE, but not very often.

	And now, Google has announced that they will abandon Flash in favor of HTML5, by the end of the year.

	About a week ago (6-7 june 2016) the typos in race chat became thinner and partly unclear while using Chrome. I have cheked with IE, Firefox,and Opera, and they all showed the text as we are used to in a clear and readable manner. So maybe it IS time to abandon Google Chrome. I'm switching to Firefox from now on.

Halifax to Hooper Bay 2024

And now it’s Autumn in the Arctic, the sun is permanently below the horizon, but during the day, from c 0900 to c 1700 local time, there is some twilight – nautical twilight, not to be confused with civil twilight which is brighter. Having receded all summer, ice is starting to return to the numerous straits and bays of Canada’s North West Passage. High time then to set off on our last leg of the High Latitudes Series from Halifax in Nova Scotia to Alaska’s Hooper Bay. It’s 3850nm and we need to hurry, so we’ll take the Pelagic 77!
