I am sad to announce that SOLer javaboat (Jim Seamans) has died of pancreatic cancer.

Javaboat joined Sailonline in November 2008 and, between sailing adventures in reality (and attending to a lot of "Honey-Do's") he was a regular racer until his cancer was diagnosed in 2014. Battling longer than many against this appalling disease, he brought the same fun, energy and courage to the fight that he brought to life itself.

In my early days on Sailonline I often found myself mid-ocean somewhere with javaboat not far distand and I found him to be endlessly patient in helping me, a landubber, come to terms with how to sail the world's oceans. He even let me boat-sit a few times!

RIP dear javaboat, I miss you.
Very sad news. I enjoyed many a chat with Jim (javaboat). I'm looking across the blue sky and white caps on the ocean thinking of you, goodbye javaboat.

So sad...I had thought they were just out cruising the world when I hadn't seen him around here for the last couple of years.
Sad to hear. Take it easy Jim!

I propose a 'Safe Harbour', 'Final Anchorage' for our good friends. Place this in the Links.

Someone proposes an old Soler to tie up there and someone else seconds. I can suggest Aaron and Jim to rest easy in our 'Harbour'.
I second that proposal.
Agree with that notion of a 'Safe Harbour'...
I like to talk a lot... sometimes I even make sense, mostly not...
I would also add Steve Alloway (YachtYakka)

Lake Victoria Sprint 2024

Welcome to Lake Victoria, home of the final sprint of Q4 and 2024. This Saturday we will sail our Lasers from Kaazi to Entebbe - 18 odd English miles in a cooling breeze, however slight it might be. Friends there will host an end of year BBQ of Luwombo, Muchomo, Matoke, and other delicacies. We will all sleep well after that. Now that the year is done relax and take in some sights like the Botanical Gardens and National Zoo. Enjoy the holidays and rest, 2025 sprints are a month away.
