As the previous thread on this topic crashed in the database, I thought I would start another...

I have a suggestion that I think would be quite easy to implement (modify?)...
That the line drawn by the ruler tool (and marks at each end) change to another colour, say, yellow at night... atleast such that it contrasts with the black water...

This tool is very useful for more than just measuring distances, and being able to see the line at night would be of great help.

Thanks...

PS: The new client rocks guys! Especially the predictor... its fantastic! Bravo!

3 Cheers for the developers!

I'd like the current coordinates shown, other than mouse-over only. Perhaps somewhere at the top of the screen.

This is not really a reply, but another question re the ruler. On my screen, if I adjust to see both Quingdau and Cape Horn and use the ruler, the line does not show the route. Maybe it was never meant to show a route? It shows a route that goes below 81 degrees onto Antarctica. The angle from Quingdau (170 degrees) doesn't seem right either. Any comments?
But that IS the shortest route! :-)

Is it possible to highlight the boats that are actually "ONLINE" e.g. If you are logged in, then your boat name will be in BOLD and/or GREEN in the boat lists.

This way you can see if some boat is about and may be lurking and you could send a "Chat" message or a Popup inviting that online boat to "GO TO CHAT"
If it breaks, it's not strong enough!
BOAT TAB:
If you have "filtered" the boats names to a lesser number than "all" e.g. all boats with 'nz', then I would like to have a "refresh" button to click on to download all the trails for this subset of boats with 'nz' in their name.

Then I will be able to see the trails and thus see how the boats I am interested in are sailing
If it breaks, it's not strong enough!
Possibly during practice sessions, a feature to 'teleport' on command your boat back to start line? Sometimes start/finish are close, but sometimes need to sail a long way to do the course again. Shouldnt be too difficult as game does this prestart anyway.
Maybe a button on steering tab to do this at will?

This isn't a game feature, rather a sailing instruction addition. For timed runs, its essential that there is a specific time stating when the runs must be completed by. A few weeks ago. my second timed run was 'lost' because it coincided with the 5th leg of the ROW race.

Seems like an all round win-win thing to do.

cheers,

Bruce.
Maybe even better Bruce, would be to designate a specific time by which timed races must be started? That way if you start before that time you are guaranteed(?) a finish, assuming a reasonable time is allowed for before race shuts down, and as long as you dont do something really silly like fall asleep and let your boat sail 50nm of course!
ie if there is 3hours until race shutdown, and it takes 4 hours to complete, the software wont let you start...
Trouble with that is that some start and never finish! Also, with big event like the ROW race, the guys sometimes need the server space. I prefer the scheduled finishes.

Round Greenland 2024

Just as Skip Novak was embarking for Kamchatsky, Amyr Klink also quietly slipped his Antarctica moorings and by now Paratii 2 has reached Reykjavik, where he invites you to join him on Leg 5 of our High Latitudes Series, a full 3650nm circumnavigation of Greenland. The course is clockwise round, so down the North Atlantic to Cape Farewell, then up the Davis Strait into Baffin Bay and on into the Arctic Ocean proper, where, hopefully and certainly virtually, Paratii 2’s special ice-breaker features will get us thorough the summer ice out onto the Greenland Sea and back to Reykjavik. Stay warm!

San Francisco to Ushuaia 2024

After a superlong RTW-leg3 (27 days), we have had a month to recover, and maintain our boat, in order to continue our around the world race. Leg 4, even longer than the previous, takes us from California to the world's southernmost city Ushuaia. No waypoints, even "the Ditch" is an option, but maybe a bit too much of a treat. With 6300 nm to go, the estimated duration of this race 29 days. This course is also the August edition of our ocean race championship.
