I do not think that will be prioritized since many player have a problem with bandwidth already as it is now...

May I make a proposition regarding tiny islands quite invisible in the middle of the seas.Sometimes it happens if you don't zoom enough those tiny island fall exactly on the wind arrow and are really invisible at present color of the land.
Admiralty charts have lands in yellow color, which is well visible on any background.
If you get aground in long regatta no problem but if it is a short, one day regatta like yday to Athens,it is hard to recuperate 100 lost positions, and just 0.82nm,which happened to me yday.
Therefor I propose yellow color for the lands

I have one tiny, trivial addition which I often find that I miss: A 'Home' button in the game interface to go back to the front page (and take the load off your server).
It appears there's something to that effect in your source below the: but I've never seen the button.
There might even be room for it next to the question mark.
If it's a hassle, drop it. Sailing with SOL is superb.

Adding a bookmark to your browser's toolbar would accomplish the same thing.

This is a small suggestion but I feel it would indeed be an improvement.

Almost invariably some of the colored tracks that are randomly assigned to other boats are not always distinguishable from the background color of the day/night display. Perhaps my visual acuity in my advancing years is not what it once was or should be, However if it were possible to toggle an "invert color" button for the tracks it would allow them to reverse and stand out. Of course some that had good visibility might then become more difficult to see but with the alternating option one could pick and chose as necessary.
None so blind
how about making the CC/TWA choice on the mobile client a check box or radio button? Easy to get wrong and lose your first place

Actually could do same thing with port/starboard = make TWA absolute and avoid chinese gybes...
SOL---I just wanted to acknowledge the hard work you've done and the hours of entertainment we have all gotten from it.Thank You so very Much--Jeff Pendleton
Maybe there is a possibility to remove advertisements (Wind Forecasts and Sail Planner) for SYC members? I want to see sailing area as big as it can be on full screen and maybe with hide/show button for side bar (Steer, Chat, Help etc.) It's very important when using netbook with small screen.

Perhaps SOL won't like me posting this, but ad blockers as are available for firefox reduce the ads to small placeholder boxes. When I use Google Chrome to play SOL, I see the ads, and the 'sailing area' IS much reduced.
Maybe you could find something like this for your browser?

Bookmark, or using a browser withg a tabbed interface, and opening the race in a new tab leaving the SOL Home page open in another?

Auckland to Noumea 2025

The ARCH competition is transitioning now from the Arabian Sea to the Pacific Ocean, featuring a 1000 nm route from Auckland to Nouméa. Organized by the Royal Akarana Yacht Club, the race last occurred in 2018 and was set to resume on May 25, 2024, after a lengthy hiatus. However, due to political unrest in New Caledonia, the event has been cancelled. Fortunately, those situations do not impact our virtual race, so prepare your Open 60 for another exciting adventure.

Sinbad by Balloon 2025 - Dondra to Toamasina

Above you see a stratospheric balloon, that if only we had gribs at that altitude would get blasted along quite rapidly and predictably. Alas we just have our SOL balloon that sails rather lower to the sea and that we have crossed the Atlantic in, west to east, last year for the first time in the southern hemisphere. So much fun was had by all, that this year we will attempt the Indian Ocean, but in four legs. Another great piece of fiction, the voyages of Sinbad By Balloon not magic carpet, although you may need a bit of magic to make any progress at times. Pack your wicker basket full for your first leg of at least 2300nm from Sri Lanka to Madagascar; it’s not a picnic hamper, you could be in the air for longer than you hoped!
