	In 2013 Sailonline transitioned from being a privately owned venture to a community owned Swedish company, Sailonline NavSim AB. Front and centre of the negotiations to conclude this successful transformation was Svein Kockberg (aka svein). Svein first started racing on Sailonline in May 2009 and rapidly became a highly esteemed and valued member of the community, always ready to help and advise those new to sailing of any kind as well as those new to sailing navigation and the tips and tricks helpful to do well in racing on Sailonline. From 2013 until 2019, in addition to regularly competing in our races, Svein also was the President of the newly formed company and, with Robert Schön (aka robert1) ran the secretariat of the company, attending to all the Swedish regulatory requirements necessary for our newly acquired legal status. Early in 2019, Svein decided to step back from such a leading role in Sailonline NavSim AB and began a handover process to Robert of all the functions of President but continued assisting in running the company. By the end of 2019 the handover was complete and Svein took the decision to step down completely, allowing those younger than him to take on the responsibility of managing Sailonline NavSim AB into the future. In grateful thanks for all Svein’s contribution to the community life and work of Sailonline and his role as first President of Sailonline NavSim AB it has been decided that he shall now become the first Life President of the Sailonline Yacht Club. 	I could say a lot and could monopolize this space telling everyone about the exceptional value of having a friend like Maestro Svein ….. and perhaps say why I started calling him Maestro…..and perhaps say what I answered to him when he asked me …” Why are you calling me Maestro ? “ …….but it would be too much . I can only say two things to you my friend: 1) Since that day many and many in SOL do actually call you Maestro ….and no one ever asked me or himself ….Why ? 2) Thank you for the contribution of Highly sophisticated “ wisdom in a few words ” you always gifted me with …and always will …… Mr President ……….Welcome to “Your” Club !!! Sailonline's Tall Ships Re-Run 2023 - Lisbon to Cadiz

Welcome back to a re-run of the fifth and last of five virtual races representing this year's European Tall Ships Races hosted in reality by Sail Training International. This fifth race is from Lisboa, Portugal to Cadiz, Andalusia; circa 130nm around Cape St Vincent in Sailonline’s 90 metre Barque.
NOTE: Starts and Finishes in tall ships racing are always offshore to avoid conflict with shipping and shipping lanes.

Sinbad Braves the Bay of Bengal 2023

Maryland to Alaska 2023
Welcome to this September edition of 2023 OCCH. This route was first sailed in 2020. At the time it was inspired by Matt Rutherford's single-handed Red Dot Expedition around the Americas in 2012, SOLer Renegade proposing a half-around from Maryland over the North into the Pacific and back through the Panama Canal, in 5 legs, 5 years later. Leg 2 across the North West Passage proved to be particularly challenging and so to create a proper Ocean Race, SRC combined Leg 2 with Leg 1 to give you a race of at least 4000nm from Maryland to Alaska, now to be sailed in our magnificent Archer 78.
