I agree with Schakel. I am one of those who hasn't sailed during the last months because of:
1. I disagree to sail in the same competition as routers
2. the amount of races to sail is to much to keep you up in the ranking

We do agree that WE need time anyway to be hight in the ranking!!!
But for my part I do think that it's a big stimulation to compet with some who r using routers!!!!
Caus you learn a lot!!!

Right now in the top 10 ranking I garantee that 5 of us ( maybe more)are not using routers!!!!!!!!!!!!

the discusion router - non router is a non discussion. It is very possible to do good in rankings as a non router, but it is time consuming.

To my opinion at least the wiz rankings are missing.( nation+newbie)
To atract newcomers and give them some competition introduce a ranking for them in which they compete 10 out of 20 races
That way they make quick ranking progres against players in the same situation.
Nations cup might be fun as wel.
More divisions may be added but i am fine with the current ranking system

it would be helpful if the dates of the races were listed on the individual ranking pages. then you could more easily tell which races were about to 'expire'

As a non-router I think that you may learn more from competing with routers but I think it would be much more fun to compete against non-routers only.
The main reason is that when competing against routers you know that they are going the best route considering the forecast will not change. If there
are only non-routers the outcome of different tactics would feel much more uncertain and the race would be much more exciting.

An easy way to test this is to set up a couple of races for non-routers only. No ranking points for these to start with.

Welcome to Sailonline’s first partnership with the City of Livorno, in cooperation with the local yacht clubs and the Italian Navy, to offer you the online opportunity to race the Regata dell’Accademia Navale. 630nm in length, starting and finishing in Livorno, the race takes you the length and breadth of the Tyrrhenian Sea via Porto Cervo and Capri. Transat à Deux 2025

Above you see a single-handed sailor semi-foiling his Beneteau Figaro III to the horizon. It is in fact Ireland’s Sailor of the Year and the overall winner of last year’s Solitaire du Figaro, Tom Dolan. Somehow, we got our hands on a polar for the Class, and rather than trying to surreptitiously track Tom and his mates in the 2025 edition of the Solitaire, sailing rather-short, single-handed legs across the Celtic Sea and Biscay, we thought we’d see how our virtual craft would fare on the Class’s double-handed 3900nm Trans-Atlantic, from somewhere in Brittanny to somewhere in the Caribbean via somewhere in the Canaries. Sinbad by Balloon 2025 - Toamasina to Baia de l'Oiseau


You may recall that when last we visited Madagascar in the company of Sinbad, the Sultan commanded our intrepid inspirator to seek out fabled islands where in Summer the sun barely set. We did and we returned but the Sultan wasn’t happy with Sinbad’s report, so here we go again, now by SOL Balloon instead of sailing vessel. Expect to be in the air for at least 2100nm and depending on how the wind brings us, anything between two weeks and two months before we shall descend at the Sultan’s given coordinates!
