Carib Rum Run

Fledgling pirates on the sea
Chasing Rum and Victory
The fleets have split
The tactics hidden
Beware advice from pirates unbidden
Across Carib we plunder and pillage
And lest ye rum, there be no spillage!!

Best to ye all!
Blow ye winds in the morning,
Blow ye winds heigh-ho!
Across the Carib Blue,
Our course is sometimes true.
We seek out island run,
'tis worth a tidy sum.
But Captain bold, to foc'sle bum,
All hoist a dram or two.
Blow ye winds in the morning.
Blow ye winds heigh-ho!
Blow ye winds in the morning,
we're bound for Mexico!

On a tuesday in April we rose.
Where we'll end up nobody knows.
For doldrums or thyphoons
our fine SOL balloons
go only where the wind blows.

It makes me glad to see this thread is still alive. Sailonline became a place of sadness for me when we lost AGage. 'Tis time to go on as you do, 76Trombones. Thank you.
Thank you for checking in.

You can see that it's slowed down... I've just barely restarted, and ballooning has turned out not to be very good for that, as Aaron's brain would have been going a mile a minute this race. I've been mentally compiling a list of the things he would have found interesting / explored / solved / shared, but my strength was always the supply side of the process. We made a good team, as he had a gift for getting things *done*. Sigh... Potential.

That doesn't rhyme.

I know this doesn't rhyme either, but:-
What is the smallest man-made object with
1. The greatest number of (English) names?
2. The greatest number of different functions?
3. The greatest number of methods for making it?

If it breaks, it's not strong enough--if it doesn't, it's too heavy.
Absolutely nobody wishes to answer my little quiz? You've already seen one of its more obscure functions!
If it breaks, it's not strong enough--if it doesn't, it's too heavy.
It is such a little thing, after all.....
If it breaks, it's not strong enough--if it doesn't, it's too heavy.
chip aka microprocessor etc

Sailonline’s 15th Birthday Balloon Race
Sailonline offers a huge variety of boats to sail in. One of the more unusual ones has got to be SOL's Balloon, which was polarized by past SOLmaster 76Trombones. Notably, the SOL Balloon will actually ‘sail’ in other directions other than straight downwind, although it will not 'sail' over land or beyond a 'beam reach'. Like in 2013 and 2018, we will be taking the Balloon across the Atlantic from St. John's and 'land' it in the sea off the Cliffs of Moher.
