	The story of Leg 2 of the 2001 RNI will be one for the annals of offshore racing in New Zealand I am sure. 50% of the original starting line withdrew due to tough wind and sea conditions, some damage and a couple of injuries.Other boats sought shelter and a few of these, like Wairua;s Open Country rejoined the race when it was prudent to do so. Arriving in the Cook Strait didn't mean plain sailing though... take a look at the attach pic of the number of course changes!!! They would be tiring if done SOLing and not IRL sailing!! 	The real (as opposed to Virtual RNI) has been postponed by 1 hour to 1600 NZDT

	SSANZ, the times should always be in UTC and I suppose you are saying that the race is postponed to 0300 hrs UTC which, however is too late notice for SOL

	I would like to lodge an official complaint regarding the start of the North Island Leg 3. I looked on the home page last night at 12pm and there was no statement of the start. Now I see that there was a start at 0200 this morning. This is not fair to those of us in the European time zone. What appears to be a 3 hour notice period is insufficient to catch all sailors around the world. My brother in boat Jawz started me off some 4 hours late because of this debacle. The net result of this is that our overall ranking is blown away. I suggest either a re-start or that this leg does not count towards the overall ranking.

	I support Henry's complaint. Where is the fairness here? I last looked earlam yesterday and saw that the race was not listed. To my horror, this morning at 6:30 I see that the race had started. To say that I am really pissed at this short notice period is putting it rather mildly. Thanks for nothing George

	I struggle when we finish in the middle of the night or a new weather pattern comes through again in the early morning. It was always going to be when SSANZ decided so i had to keep looking on their web which also states the stopover times. Links were place on SOL for this. Bonus i'm in NZ but keep this in mind for other starts in the northern hemisphere. --- Last Edited by NZL Otto at 2011-03-02 07:55:08 ---

	SOL said it would run starts at the same time as the race IRL. And has done exactly what it said it would to the best of its ability. Well done (imho)

Round Greenland 2024

Just as Skip Novak was embarking for Kamchatsky, Amyr Klink also quietly slipped his Antarctica moorings and by now Paratii 2 has reached Reykjavik, where he invites you to join him on Leg 5 of our High Latitudes Series, a full 3650nm circumnavigation of Greenland. The course is clockwise round, so down the North Atlantic to Cape Farewell, then up the Davis Strait into Baffin Bay and on into the Arctic Ocean proper, where, hopefully and certainly virtually, Paratii 2’s special ice-breaker features will get us thorough the summer ice out onto the Greenland Sea and back to Reykjavik. San Francisco to Ushuaia 2024

After a superlong RTW-leg3 (27 days), we have had a month to recover, and maintain our boat, in order to continue our around the world race. Leg 4, even longer than the previous, takes us from California to the world's southernmost city Ushuaia. No waypoints, even "the Ditch" is an option, but maybe a bit too much of a treat. With 6300 nm to go, the estimated duration of this race 29 days. This course is also the August edition of our ocean race championship.
