Hi there

I think this is a week race, and it looks like they are booked up. Could go to Agust no problem, I'm not in a rush.
Blake - thanks! Its great to have good races that are "manoeuvrable feasts"!!

:-)
Blake - your race is now in the September calendar with a start date/time of Tuesday, 6 September @ 1800utc. Hope this is OK for you?

It is all set up and ready for a quick preview, too, so to do this you just need to log in as the sol boat:

Username: sol
Password: sol

and then click here

You will see that I added a waypoint at Lizard point simply to avoid the sailing line crossing from the IoW to Ireland!!

Let me know what you think :-)
Blake, RC
1) Are the Bembridge and Cowes marks to be watermarks/buoys or should they be on the headlands of the Isle of Wight?

Looks a fun 7-10 days race.
Can't Wait!!

SP
ShamPir - thanks for picking up on the two waypoints.. they will be corrected promptly.

Blake - I will shortly be archiving the race until it is raced. If you would like another snoop just holler and I will make it visible to you again for a day or so.

:-)
Hi RC

No I am happy that any changes you make are improvements! Cowes marks should be headlands so people are tempted onto the rocks, just like the RTI race ;-)

Thanks for tidying it up for me.

Now as for yacht choice... anything that is 'French' like Mini650, figaros, class 40 or similar. Or any 'racy' monohull at all really.

Blake
Blake - SOL hasn't raced the Mini 6.5 for a while so I think that would be a good'un! :-)

Here is a smaller version of your poster which I will put on the SOL Homepage and link it to your larger one :-)

Blake - the Developer Dudes have scheduled a SOL Downtime for up to 48hrs from 0001utc on Tuesday 6 September... this is to migrate Sailonline.org to a new server.

Although the changeover is unlikely to need that long, it would be prudent to pull your race and reschedule it in October when we know there is nothing to interfere with it!

At the moment there are no week October races in the calendar (its in very very early draft form) so... please let me know which Tuesday in October you would like it to start (4th, 11th, 18th, 25th)?

Your choice.

Kamchatsky to Tromsoe 2024

Just before the light failed entirely in Antarctica, Skip Novak managed to get his Pelagic 77 out of the ice and north up the Pacific to Kamchatsky. The sun is shining (24/7) and not a penguin to be seen, and Skip believes the Norh East Passage is ice-free (sufficiently) to attempt it, so all aboard for a c 4250nm voyage from east to west across the top of Siberia, Russia and Norway to Tromsoe!
