NovaBench is actually an over 17 MB download. Also not so easy for a semi-computer literate non-coder type person to use. I couldn't get anything like the results you posted. Maybe I downloaded the wrong thing, but I didn't see any other options in the link you posted.
Also I see you edited the post since I read it this morning (Cal time). So I don't know how the info I spent the time to pull out relates to you original request. Actually I think you should just assume that most solers use off the shelf computers...probably 90% laptops with integrated graphic chipsets. I doubt that very many are using alien-ware hi-end gaming machines. Here in central Cal, depending on where I'm connecting I get from .3 Mbps to 3Mbps down and from .15 Mbps to 1.9 Mbps up on my 3G donaggle. At the coffee shop on DSL 1.2 ~ 1.5 Mbps down and .3 ~ .5 up. I have a 15.5'" wide screen display. 1366 x 786 resolution...32 bit color depth...60Hz refresh rate. My machine has 2GB RAM, Intel Pentium Dual CPU T3400 (2.16 GHz), with standard (HP) Mobile Intel 4 Series Chipset graphics board. OS is Win Vista SP2 (fully updated). Mostly I use Chrome (especially for sol). Also use on occasion FireFox (still on 6), Opera, and on very rare occasions IE9. --- Last Edited by Jack Watson at 2011-11-21 04:11:21 --- |

Yes, I made error there - it is 12Mb... 3 is version number... oops
But I cant think of an easier program to use - there is a very large button when you start the app that says 'Start Benchmark Tests' ![]() All that info is still relevant Jack - NovaBench is just a convenient way to get hold of it, and provides simple numbers that allow comparison of both windows and mac machines. --- Last Edited by Aaron Gage at 2011-11-21 03:59:41 --- I help develop the client interface for the best online ocean racing sim there is... __/)/)_/)__ |
