	AHOY SOLers Here is the proposed calendar for March - there aren't many gaps as the month is pretty full with the Round New Zealand race and the continuing Round the World Race but... we are bound to have opportunities for short/swift weekday/weekend races, so do please as always make suggestions! 	RC...You once set up a Trial Race....Windy as hell up at The Aluetians I think.....That would be fun as a Timed Race....As you know, I´m a sucker for Timed races, and, can I tell you in secret, also for "Happy-ends". Robert

	HI RC, With only SWR and SSANZ on the docket for the month, perhaps there is server space for some short races, even if during the week? As not EVERYONE works M-F/9-5, I think there is a niche for some weekday 1-3day races. Maybe a good opportunity to clean up some of the pending races OR throw in a series as I suggested over in RP Forum for Gator's latest kmz. Just a thought if the servers can handle it. SP

	Hi ShamPir - yeps... good thinking! Once we have just one leg of the SWR open again and then "just" the RNZ I am sure we will be able to run some week races.. we've had a bunch of weekend ones so its time to mix it up a little!!

	Hi all I too, am very keen on the timed races, in fact any race which doesn't interfere too much with reality. Having discovered a sure way to diminish my pathetic ranking even further, I have stopped partaking in the "race for X hours, go to bed, run into rock" - or weekend races as they are known! (Looking at the entries, I may not be alone in this thought!) Now, given the popularity of RC's 'practice races', it occurs to me that there may be others who might prefer a shorter race, ie 8 to 12 hours, to take place during their normal waking hours. To be fair to all parts of the world, it would have to actually be 3 races starting say, 30 hours apart (to allow one race to finish before the next starts). Although the course would be the same, the wind would be variable, therefore the sailing time, but with a group start at least there would be fair competition within that group. Someone might even be able to figure out some handicap system to compare each group. The races would be identical with one start per group, eg Race 1. Monday start 08:00 UTC - finish no later than 20:00 UTC (for Europeans, SA, etc) Race 2. Tuesday start 14:00 UTC - finish 02:00 Wed (for the USA, Canada, etc) Race 3. Wed start 20:00 UTC - finish 08:00 Thurs (for the Aussies and Kiwis). (These could just as easily be juggled round to fit a weekend). This way, sleep deprivation is not part of the gameplan, and those with others to consider, do not have to risk divorce or death by setting the alarm for 3 am! Does anyone see any potential? 	Hi Danny I think this is a great idea! Definitely worth a try. Snag is thinking about server loads as if one race isn't finished in time we would be adding on the burden of a second but Leg 4 "only" has 933 boats currently racing so that might not be too much of an issue. Is there a name for the segments of the world that are Americas / Europe Africa / Asia/Australasia ?? Some fun time-zoney names? A couple of folks have mentioned wanting something during the week. Timed races though are definitely a burden on the server and folks tend to get ticked off if they aren't open long enough for a "best run" to be calculated so we probably won't do a Timed "triumvirate"!! Where shall we have the course? Round our favourite Falklands? Aleutians? Tristan da Cunha? As always, we don't spend much time in Lerwick, Shetland and after some brief but excellent celebrations we are rapidly heading back to Bergen, Norway, for the second leg of the Pantaenius Shetland Race 2022. The North Sea always provides with some exciting racing and we are sure that this race will be no different!

Isla St George Sprint 2022
The Bass Islands, in western Lake Erie, are a mere couple of miles west of the southernmost boundary of Canada. In this 21nm PYOC sprint, we will set off from East Harbor in our RC 44s and leave North Bass Island (historically Isle St. George) to port before quickly returning to East Harbor.

Sailonline is extremely excited to be buddying-up for this amazing series which is a classic that Sailonline has had the honour of presenting to its community for some years now. Newport Bermuda Race 2022

The 635-mile biennial Newport Bermuda Race is one of the oldest regularly scheduled ocean races, and with the Fastnet Race and the Sydney to Hobart Race, it is one of the three great classic races of the yachting world. Founded in 1906, this the 52nd running of the Bermuda Race can also be participated in online.
Entries are invited for one of the four divisions:

As in real life, you can only sail one boat in one division, so choose your virtual yacht carefully, and because of the unusual (for SOL) 4-division nature of the event, please note results will not count towards ANY Sailonline Rankings.

Geraldton to Cape Town 2022
A race in the Southern Indian Ocean is always entertaining, especially in a Riptide 50. Traditionally the course would be West to East, to take advantage of the prevailing winds, but this time the SRC is challenging us to an E-W course, from Geraldton in Western Australia to Cape Town in South Africa. A brief 4800nm!
