  • Pirate Störtebeker - today in Gothenburg Post
    Board » General Discussion
Hi all, saw this story in todays edition of G P. Around year 1400 saw pirates in the waters of lighthouse Borkum Riff, Germany. Their worst chief was Klaus Störtebeker with some one hundred ships. As he was caught and about to be beheaded he made a deal with the executioner: that he should let free as many comrades as he managed to walk along after he'd been beheaded!
Story says he managed to pass 11 men! Then the executioner tripped him!

  • Re: The "two boat rule".
    Board » Sailonline Yacht Club
    Hello!
Just heard little on this topic on chat.
Why not two classes/types of races?
SINGLE; one boat per player, one player per boat, only SOL controls, only current set CC or TWA, or DCs, between midnight and 0600.
OPEN; "everything" is allowed, 2 players per boat, 2 boats per player (2nd named xxx2), routing software, UGRIB weather etc etc.
Like now, I would go for SINGLE races, thats the challenge!

    Hi etxnebe!
Great circle course is not a "straight" line as CC are!
Following a GC course forces you to change CC now and then.
Try to use the ruler and click along the May Transat rhumbline every 250Nm for example. You will find that you have different CC in most of the "boxes" created by each click!
    Any help to You?

Halifax to Hooper Bay 2024

And now it’s Autumn in the Arctic, the sun is permanently below the horizon, but during the day, from c 0900 to c 1700 local time, there is some twilight – nautical twilight, not to be confused with civil twilight which is brighter. Having receded all summer, ice is starting to return to the numerous straits and bays of Canada’s North West Passage. High time then to set off on our last leg of the High Latitudes Series from Halifax in Nova Scotia to Alaska’s Hooper Bay. It’s 3850nm and we need to hurry, so we’ll take the Pelagic 77!
