On seeing Bonknhoot's threat to my third place in the Newport Timed Race 2020
Brother Bonk is a jolly, old geezer
Who's determined to sail like a Ceasar
I'm beginning to think
My result may well sink
Who needs podiums with friends such as these, huh?

On a Farr Far Away ....
There was an old fellow from Denmark
Who was searching in vain for a landmark
He made his way East
The Farr is a beast
But alone he's devoid of a benchmark.
There's a wedge coming down from the North
Who knows what will happen henceforth
Next WX might show
Which way the winds blow
As for now, we foresee a tack port(h)
Good luck to my fellow Go4it
I doubt he and I will deplore it
We chose a route South
He followed the Mouth
And by now, by Jove, we'll explore it
There's another old fellow named Wolff
Not a man you'd expect to play golf.
Oh no, he's a sailor.
Very rarely a failure.
In fact, as a sailor he's prof.
My ancient aquaintance Go4it
Is in favor of North here pre audit
Not knowing the weather
I am wondering whether
The new wind shows gains or a forfeit.

On the imminent threat of being Bonk'ed:
When you're racing a close race with Bonk
You're in trouble much more than you thunk
On your stern with a grin
You cannot let him in
This is one race you don't want to flunk.

Celebrating a fickle 3rd place in Hong Kong to Auckland:
There once was a man named Mouthansar
Who lived his life chasing a stanza
His mind in the bends
Harassing his friends
And just now in a sailing bonanza.

Furthermore:
There's a species of the coyote
It's a prominent 'Stralian' floaty
Not quite like the gringo
It is known as a Dingo
A poetic and competent boatie.

Extracts from a chat somewhere past St. Ana on the way from Hong Kong to Auckland ... gobsmacked by the Doldrums:
Mouthansar:
Will you go to the East or the West
There is no way of telling what's best
The winds are so fickle
"Was will sich entwicklen?"
Asks Rumskib, who's sailing with zest.
While I listened to Carlos St. Ana
I was sailing an eastbound banana
Now, we're heading South
And the bard known as Mouth
Is wearing his Aussie bandana.
Dingo:
T'was early in the month of Feb,
I left to sail the VOR,
Told my wife I'd be away,
four weeks or maybe more,
That's fine she said, sail well my boy,
go fast for the Auckland shore
Now it's looking on the cards,
I'll sail right past her door.
Mouthansar
Dingo! That is phenomenal.
Nothing like the doldrums to turn the poetic side of a manbrain inside out
There is a fine Aussie named Dingo
Who is currently leading this stint. Yo!!!
His wife is a dear.
She's steering him clear.
Of the beer joints to which he might else go.
(By 'stint' I mean overall VOR so far)
Dingo:
Mouth, I now realise there's a SOL version of haiku. Poem's are limited to 200 letters.
Nice one Mouth! ))
Trying making a poem with Mouthansar,
his name uses up a whole stanza,
but down in the south, where he's shortened to Mouth,
he's more well known than Mario Lanza.
<bZ>Mouthansar:
Haiku is a very different stanza.
Here's an attempt at the noble art:
An ocean becalmed
Plowed by furious keels
Rest the seas, sailor.
LOL ... Who's Mario Lanza?
Dingo:
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mario_Lanza
That is a lovely haiku Mouth!
Mouthansar:
I am so proud to be compared to Lanza. I quote from Wikipedia: "Lanza was known to be "rebellious, tough, and ambitious."
... also known for: " addictions to overeating and alcohol" Hmm ... still spot on!

Dingo might take the Melbourne to Hong Kong race although it does not look much like it now:
When your Future Track looks like a bowsprit
And your wake looks much like an armpit
You know it'll be
Quite a while before we
Are racing again and top speed hit.
There once was a skipper named Dingo
Though not quite a drummer like Ringo
He sails his boat fast
And never comes last
But right now he is dreaming of 'Bingo'

On trying to circumnavigate Dai Island in 0.85 knots of breeze:
Someone - got the spelling all wrong
I realized, sailing along
Dai Island it's called
But that is a fault
It is 'Die!', in their local tongue
