2022 Vasco Ocean Race IRL

An opportunity exists for a SOL crewed boat (similar to the SOL Fastnet campaign) for the 2022 Vasco Ocean Race from Durban to East London.
a Boat has become available for a crew to race this (the oldest offshore race in South Africa) ocean race irl. The boat called Flyer is a Benneteau First33 and she is race ready with new sails etc. She has done the race quite a few times in the past and she stands a decent chance of overall race honours due to a favourable handicap rating.

Is there an interest in such a venture?

Can I make a suggestion?

Can the SOL powers that be create a page / link for SOLers who have sailed on?

We have lost quite a few loved fellow SOLers through the years and for the new SOLers who have joined in recent times as well as new SOLers to yet join it would be good to know in whose wake they sail.

Devastated to say the least. When we last spoke on email Joao had extended an invitation to us to visit him at home as soon as I can get a yacht kitted and make the passage to Portugal... that was not that long ago. Was looking forward spending some time with him and his family and go sailing together... That will now have to wait for a while.

I for one will miss him a lot as we shared many a story on email and chatted quite a bit through the years...

Bugger... don't know what else to say really... Will write a more coherent post later. Day suddenly gone strangely dark here by us.

Susan Hood Trophy Race 2023

Lake Ontario Offshore Racing (LOOR) welcomes racers to the third virtual Susan Hood Trophy race. This is a 75nm weekender on western Lake Ontario starting and finishing at the Port Credit Yacht Club (PCYC) via Niagara and Burlington, and is one of two that will count towards a special Sailonline's LOOR Series medals. As our Beneteau First 36.7 managed the course so well in previous years, we shall race her again!

Cape Town to Auckland 2023

Iceberg Dodge TIMED Race 2023
Designed by NZL_Scotsman, this 34nm TIMED race takes us around Kobbermine Bugt. This is the 4th iteration of this race, having been held every 3 years since 2014. Climate change may have eased our access to these fjords but watch your roundings - navigating around those islands continue to remain tricky! The target time to beat is 5:01:11, set in 2017.
