    AHOY THERE, YE BEFUDDLED SCALLYWAGS!!!

On 16 September at 1500utc Sailonline will start its annual race to collect barrels of rum from Carib distilleries and deliver what remains of their contents to Cancun, Mexico. This year the race will start three days before International Talk Like a Pirate Day (Sept 19)!

All SYC Members are hereby invited to adopt a pirate name for this race only.

If you are a paid-up SYC Member or if you join SYC during the Carib Rum Run you may request a change of your usual Sailonline boat name just in this one race to one of your piratical preference!

Names are agreed on a first-come, first-served basis BUT all must be suitable and "fit to print", Sailonline is a family-friendly site so we reserve the right to disallow names we consider inappropriate.

All requests for such changes will only be actioned if posted in this thread - hollering in chat is fun, but only by posting here can you guarantee your pirate name! You may pre-request a name in advance of the race opening for practice.

PLEASE DO CHECK THE LIST BELOW before submitting a request so that you don't ask for a name already taken by someone else before you!

Please note that the change of boat name for this one race will not affect either your usual login credentials (username and password) or your SYC rankings.

Once the race opens, as always, I will be endeavouring to change boat names as efficiently as possible!

REMINDER: you may join SYC and, once your burgee is visible, request a change of name for the race at any time up to and during the Carib Rum Run until race close!

    Good Evening all SOLers,

If you would still like to take part with us SOTP SOLers in the Golden Globe Races 2018 as an
SOTP SOLer, you're more than welcome! It is not too late! All you have to do is leave a reply in this Forum Thread and we shall add you.
Please be advised however that I unfortunately can't watch this Forum Thread 24 hours a day but as soon as I have a chance I will
check the forum and add you to the list. This however means that it may take some time for the "_SOTP" to appear at the
end of your boat name, but do not worry as you WILL definitely be added at some point during the day.

Please also note that when you want to login to your profile on Sailonline, do not include the "_SOTP" suffix as your username,
you just merely login with your normal username as you always have been doing. For Example: If your boatname is "sol",
you must sign in with "sol" and your normal password NOT "sol_SOTP".

Have a great race and Fair Winds!

    Kind Regards
    Patrick

Round Greenland 2024

Just as Skip Novak was embarking for Kamchatsky, Amyr Klink also quietly slipped his Antarctica moorings and by now Paratii 2 has reached Reykjavik, where he invites you to join him on Leg 5 of our High Latitudes Series, a full 3650nm circumnavigation of Greenland. The course is clockwise round, so down the North Atlantic to Cape Farewell, then up the Davis Strait into Baffin Bay and on into the Arctic Ocean proper, where, hopefully and certainly virtually, Paratii 2’s special ice-breaker features will get us thorough the summer ice out onto the Greenland Sea and back to Reykjavik. Stay warm!

San Francisco to Ushuaia 2024

After a superlong RTW-leg3 (27 days), we have had a month to recover, and maintain our boat, in order to continue our around the world race. Leg 4, even longer than the previous, takes us from California to the world's southernmost city Ushuaia. No waypoints, even "the Ditch" is an option, but maybe a bit too much of a treat. With 6300 nm to go, the estimated duration of this race 29 days. This course is also the August edition of our ocean race championship.
