I can access the sailonline site but when I open a race I get an error page directing me to get flash. needless to say, I have flash. I cleared sailonline cookies. using firefox 14.0.1

not sure how to respond. isn't there a weekend/weekday separate ranking for just this reason? short races favor some members more than others? so? are the rankings there for an extra layer of fun/experience or so the same people can always win? which, I am getting a little weary of myself. how about designing a ranking system that doesn't favor only a few members? I was willing to concede that I would never have a chance to be on the podium because I don't use the weather predictors some members use but this 'gaming' the rankings to favor long course racers just seems like an extra insult. as are the constant rude comments about "sheep" racers in the forum and chats. why bother with the 'short' courses at all? obviously the only important races are the one that favor the usual winners. by my count we have about one short course for every 4-5 long ones. isn't that enough of a disparity already? if members are designing these sorts of courses wouldn't that indicate they prefer to see some other type of race once in awhile? I guess the exclusion really took me off guard but SOL's concession that they intentionally favor one type of racer over another really surprised me.

is there a reason why the Erie race does not appear in the rankings? is the 'too many buoys' complaint? missing waypoints happens to everyone. i sincerely hope this wasn't the reason it has been excluded.

Here's a proposal for all you Great Lakes sailors! the Google Earth file is attached.

Course Summary: Sandusky Bay to Put-in-Bay
Boats: Frers 33
Distance: 46 NM
Estimated Duration: 15 hours
Race Type: weekend/timed

Description: 46 NM race around the islands of Lake Erie from Sandusky Bay around Pelee Island, North Bass/St. George Island, and Middle Bass Island finishing at Put-in-Bay.

Invitation: Help artem1s celebrate the end of the sailing season on Lake Erie with one last dash around the islands. We'll be racing with a Frers 33 and starting at the mouth Sandusky Harbor and finishing at South Bass Island. Grab a mooring ball and take the water taxi in for pizza and drinks at Frosty's when pass the finish line at Put-in-Bay.

Designed by German Frers to optimize the new International Measurement System (IMS) rating rule, the Frers 33 was built from 1986 to 1992 and marketed by its builder, Carroll Marine Ltd. of Bristol, RI, as a racer/cruiser.

I will send a list of ports and approximate dates of leg starts. There are 7 legs. they do not have start times posted yet.

is anyone's polar behaving "oddly". the prediction figures seem to be way off on mine and the indicator for speed is way out in the 18knt range yet my boat is only clocking 8knts. using J80

Sinbad Seeks Spices 2023
Having surveyed Arabia, Sinbad Al-SOL’er next invites you to race him on his second of seven epic voyages to every corner of the Indian Ocean and beyond, this time to seek spices in Zanzibar, departing from Xaafun, a trading post on the tip of the Horn of Africa since the days of the Mycenaeans and on through Roman times to the Nights of 1,001 of AL-Sail’or, Al-SOL’er’s illustrious ancestor. SOLing by the sun and the stars, aka seat-of-the-pants, the voyage will take you east as far as Praslin island, south as far as Anjouan, to Zanzibar’s Unguja for all things spices, but only back as far as Mogidishu – another exhausting 3000nm adventure, this time in Reichel/Pugh 66s.
